Layer-selective magnetization switching in the chirped photonic crystal with GdFeCo

Abstract Here we propose a magnetophotonic structure for the layer-selective magnetization switching with femtosecond laser pulses of different wavelengths. It is based on chirped crystal (MPC) containing magnetic GdFeCo and nonmagnetic dielectric layers. At each operating wavelength heat up to necessary level only one layer that leads its reversal without any impact other Moreover, magneto-optical reading MPC state discussed. Lateral dimensions considered can be made small enough operate as unit cell data storage.
